World Water Monitoring Day is an international outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world. The Virginia Water Monitoring Council is coordinating the World Water Monitoring Day activities in Virginia. The following information and links are designed to help you better understand Water Monitoring Day in Virginia and around the world and to participate in Water Monitoring Day in a watershed near you. World Water Monitoring Day 2007 is actually observed for a month, from September 18, 2007 through October 18, 2007. If you have information about events in your watershed, please email Dana Roberts, Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (dana.roberts@vaswcd.org) or Gary Speiran with the USGS (gspeiran@usgs.gov). Our goal is to have events in every basin in Virginia! Other USGS sponsored activities across the country can be found at http://www.usgs.gov/homepage/science_features/world_water_2007.asp.
