Age Dating

DESCRIPTION:  
Collection of tritium/helium-3 (3H/3He) age-dating sample.  Water flows through a copper tube contained in an aluminum channel fitted with pinch-off clamps.  The sample water is isolated from the atmosphere at the time of sampling by tightening the clamps, which pinches the ends of the copper tubing together.  The sample is analyzed at the Noble Gas Laboratory at the Lamont- Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University in Palisades, NY.
